Safe Work Practices - Micropause
|
Taking a micropause every few minutes is an important way of preventing the debilitating effects of computer related health problems, eye strain and fatigue.
Each micropause only needs to be 3 to 5 seconds long to allow your tense muscles enough time to relax.
You should physically lift your hands off the keyboard and mouse during micropauses.
Close your eyes for a few seconds then focus on a distant object for a few seconds to help you relax and to rest your eyes.
Regular micropauses are NOT a waste of time! They can actually help you to become more productive; to work with less stress and therefore with greater accuracy and effectiveness.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you can’t afford to stop for a few seconds. Remember that those few seconds may save you from debilitating and painful health problems which could result in you having to take a long enforced rest!
